Best Time to Trek in Nepal
# Best Time to Trek in Nepal
Nepal has two main trekking seasons and two off-seasons. Choosing the right time makes a huge difference to your experience.
## Peak Seasons
### Autumn (October–November)
– **Best overall** — clear skies, stable weather, moderate temperatures
– Busy trails — book teahouses and gear early
– Best mountain views
### Spring (March–May)
– **Second best** — warming weather, rhododendron blooms
– Slightly hazy later in season
– Busier at lower altitudes
## Off-Seasons
### Winter (December–February)
– Cold, but clear skies and few crowds
– High passes may be snow-blocked
– Good for lower treks (Poon Hill, Mardi Himal)
### Monsoon (June–September)
– Rain, leeches, cloudy views
– Trails are quiet
– Good for rain-shadow areas (Upper Mustang, Dolpo)
## Month-by-Month
– **Oct–Nov**: Best. Book early.
– **Dec–Feb**: Cold but clear. Lower treks only.
– **Mar–May**: Great. Spring blooms.
– **Jun–Sep**: Monsoon. Avoid (except rain-shadow).
## Final Tip
Reserve gear 3–5 days before your trek in peak season — popular items sell out.
