Annapurna Base Camp Trek Guide
# Annapurna Base Camp Trek Guide
The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek reaches 4,130m at the base of Annapurna I. It is one of Nepal’s most popular treks — shorter and lower than EBC, but with incredible close-up mountain views.
## Route
Typical 7–12 day trek from Nayapul (or Ghandruk) through Chhomrong, Bamboo, Deurali and Machhapuchhre Base Camp to ABC. Can be combined with Poon Hill.
## Difficulty
Moderate. Suitable for fit first-time trekkers. The trail has many stone steps (up and down) which can be tough on knees. Trekking poles are essential.
## Best Time
March–May (spring rhododendrons) and October–November (clear skies). Avoid monsoon (June–September).
## Gear
The ABC package includes:
– Sleeping bag -10°C
– Down jacket
– Rain shell (Annapurna sees more rain than Everest)
– Trekking poles
– Duffel bag
## Highlights
– Close-up views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre
– Sunrise at ABC with 360° mountain panorama
– Hot springs at Jhinu Danda
– Gurung culture in Ghandruk and Chhomrong
