Poon Hill Trek: The Classic 4-Day Sunrise Trek

Poon Hill Trek: The Classic 4-Day Sunrise Trek

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is the most popular short trek in Nepal, and for good reason. In just 4 days you get the iconic sunrise view from Poon Hill (3210m) over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges — a panorama of 20+ peaks above 6000m.

The Route

Day 1: Drive Pokhara to Nayapul, trek to Tikhedhunga (1540m). Day 2: Climb the famous 3280 stone steps to Ghorepani (2860m). Day 3: Pre-dawn hike to Poon Hill for sunrise, then trek to Tadapani (2630m). Day 4: Tadapani to Ghandruk (1940m), a beautiful Gurung village, then drive back to Pokhara.

Why Poon Hill?

Poon Hill is ideal for families, first-timers, and trekkers short on time. Max elevation is only 3210m so altitude is rarely an issue. Tea-house lodging is comfortable throughout. The view from Poon Hill is one of the most photographed in Nepal.
